Rob Ford will not sit down

Unlike the Prime Minister’s Office, Rob Ford is willing to talk about his “private” fishing trip with the Prime Minister at Harrington Lake.

The mayor did provide an interesting picture of the two politicians in the boat. “I stand up in the boat all the time, he says, ‘Sit down.’ I say, ‘No, no.’ I stand up, I cast, you know, I get right into it,” Ford said. “It’s a lot of fun and when you hook into a nice bass, you can feel these and they give you a good fight.”

… He and Harper discussed the proposed new federal ridings for Toronto revealed Monday, Ford said, and the mayor’s plans to reduce council from 44 seats to 22. Ford hinted he may only try to reduce council to 25 seats if the riding maps are redrawn. Ford said the two talked about the next elections — Ford’s municipal election in 2014 and Harper’s federal election in early 2015.

Rob Ford will not sit down

  1. Attention: All editorial cartoonists to the lake, please.

  2. Wait.. early 2015?

Didn’t we pass an elections act that stated:

“(2) Subject to subsection (1) [the Gov. General can do whatever s/he wants], each general election must be held on the third Monday of October in the fourth calendar year following polling day for the last general election, with the first general election after this section comes into force being held on Monday, October 19, 2009.”

So.. question for all you CPC supporters. I realize you all said that this act was only supposed to apply to majority governments, but now that it seems Harper is intent on violating even *that* spirit, is there any excuse you can give?

I mean, sure, Harper already demonstrated that the law, as written, is basically a waste of time, paper, and government resources.. but it is still the law of the land. Doesn’t that matter at all to anyone any more?

    • It is Ford we are talking about here. Surely someone as savvy as Harper wouldn’t blab anything as momentous as that to a sieve like Rob Ford? On the other hand…

  3. Two different classes….I doubt they have anything to say to each other outside of ‘win again next time’ and ….apparently….’sit down’.
