Rock with them

  1. Same dreary stuff they've said for 60 years now.

  2. Same dreary stuff they've said for 60 years now.

    • At the risk of getting drawn into a back and forth with someone who has proven time and again that she knows better than anybody else, even at 60 years old, it's a helluva lot fresher than the Libservatives' tennis game.

  3. Hands down… best ad of the campaign so far.

  5. Eyestrain.

  8. So, Jack … after wrestling more than a billion in social spending out of Paul Martin, why did you bring down his government BEFORE the Gomery Report was tabled and stick us with Harper?

You thought you could become Leader of the Official Opposition and move into Stornoway, didn't you?

If you're so concerned about retirees and pensioners, why'd you vote with the Tories on income trusts — was that part of your deal with them, along with smearing Ralph Goodale and calling in the RCMP during the campaign?

Jack, why are you trying to cap credit card interest rates at a time when household debt is soaring? After all, won't lower rates just lead to ever more debt? Wasn't ultra-low interest part of the problem in the credit crisis?

Oh yeah, your just as cheap a populist as Harper was with his GST cuts.

  10. On a musical note, wouldn't "Bittersweet Symphony" better match the NDP/Conservative dalliance?

  12. LOL I hope you're not in charge of recruiting for the NDP.

  13. This is the best NDP ad I've seen so far.

  15. Nope. Around these parts, it's all Craigola Party of Canada, all the time.

    • Well, there's your problem.

      • Well, I said it was a party, so if there's a problem, it's more than likely yours.

        • Ahh well see, during an election campaign I expected serious responses. My bad.

          • Yes. You're bad. But I accpet your apology and encourage you to vote for me.

  17. Well, there's your problem.

  18. This is the nicest political ad that I have seen in a while. If I ever got hit really hard on the head, and ended up thinking that these liberal ideas would ever work, I would vote for Layton. I don't agree with almost everything that comes out of his mouth, but I feel he has stuck to his ideals better than anyone else. Ignatieff doesn't even come close.
On that note, though, and interesting thought. Has Layton been able to 'stick to his ideals' better than the other two, because he has never had a chance of gaining power? He can't really expand his base, so doesn't have to sorry about offending people. The voters he has will stick, and the other wouldn't vote NDP no matter what? It's possible that he looks cleaner, because of this.

  20. Busy, busy, way too busy! People can hardly keep up reading all of that.

  21. Busy, busy, way too busy! People can hardly keep up reading all of that.

    • Well.. that explains some things.

  22. But in any case: voters do have a choice to make.

Why would NDP supporters abandon Layton in favour of Ignatieff in order to defeat the Conservatives?

I think Layton deserves more votes than does Ignatieff. Layton has worked most of his life, first in municipal government and then in federal politics to get his message out, and his message has been consistent over the years.

Why would voters suddenly throw all of that away and support Ignatieff when Ignatieff hasn't worked for Canadian interest untill a few years ago. If I weren't voting for Harper, it would be Jack getting my vote.

  27. Wait a second. I thought we've been spending the last couple years reminding each other that we DON'T vote for the party leader? I can't choose Jack Layton! Why have they just lied to me about the way our parliamentary democracy works? Is it because they hate Canada?

    • Is it because they hate Canada? You'll need to elect an New Democrat government to find out.
