Well, Joe Biden did say he’d be tested

And Dmitry Medvedev wastes no time offering Barack Obama a choice: Russia will deploy short-range missiles in Kaliningrad on the border of Poland and Lithuania — unless Obama prefers to abandon George W. Bush’s plan for missile-defence batteries in Poland and the Czech Republic.

Oh, and the future may be looking like a lot more Vladimir Putin.

  1. *grimaces*
    this does not bode well.

  2. Russia will deploy short-range missiles in Kaliningrad on the border of Poland and Lithuania

Yeah, so what. It’s not like Russia is going to fire them at Poland or Lithuania.

  3. Interesting timing.

Bush has almost three months left as Commander-in-Chief.

Does Bush try to go out with some leadership and class by working with the President-elect (and finally show us that “uniter not a divider” we’ve been waiting 8 years to meet)? or does he weaken the country by letting Cheney make the call on how to deal with Putin without much input from Obama?

  4. The truce between Israel and Hamas also ended last night/early this morning but I don’t think it has anything to do with Obama’s win.

I keep reading stories in right wing sources about how Bush is trying to tie up lots of loose ends before Obama/Dems take over and Israel is one of the issues they want to take care of.

  5. Missiles are so yesterday. Any grown-up knows they are a profiteering scam created by thier makers. Europe is ultimately won and lost by economic factors. People often lose sight of this fact and burn and bomb the place to shit. Surely we are past this. I thought “history” had ended – and good riddence.

  6. You’d be surprised how little people seem to learn from history.

  7. An end to Detente. So much for the end of history with the end of the Soviet Union. Russia and Putin are out to grab their legacy.

  8. As if Putin has spent even one day out of power.
