Which part of the Bible covers jet fighter procurement?

Julian Fantino, the associate minister of defence, responding this afternoon to questions from the NDP.

Mr. Speaker, that premise is absolutely false. The member opposite is referring to a failed NDP candidate who wrote this report, critical of everything that is holy and decent about this government’s efforts to provide our military men and women with the resources that…

The report referred to was authored by Michael Byers (a former NDP candidate) and Stewart Webb.

Which part of the Bible covers jet fighter procurement?

  1. Yeah, Jesus was very big on war and smiting innocent people from 30,000 ft up I’m sure.

    Very ‘holy and decent’.

  2. Wow.  So questioning the F-35 purchase doesn’t just mean that you hate the troops, it means that you hate GOD too???  The NDP’s not only an enemy of our fighting men and women, but an enemy of all that is good and holy???

I bet they’re secretly reptiles, and eat kittens too.

    • Satanic unbelievers, no better than lowly, foreign, unwashed infidels; a pox on our their graves.

    • I thought Harper was the kitten eater. Now I’m just totally confused!

      • Technically, Dalton McGuinty was the reptilian kitten-eater.

An “evil reptilian kitten-eater from another planet” if I recall the Tory press release correctly.

  3. Let’s see, what was Jesus’ first public act? Oh ya, he chased the money changers from the Temple. I think that pretty well squares that circle.

  4. Where does Julian Fantino cite the Bible in his quoted comments?

I think some people around here really need to find another hobby.

    • Um, he describes the Cons efforts as “holy”, not holey or wholly.  Just in case you don’t know what that means:

ho·ly  (hl)adj. ho·li·er, ho·li·est 1. Belonging to, derived from, or associated with a divine power; sacred.
      2. Regarded with or worthy of worship or veneration; revered: a holy book.
      3. Living according to a strict or highly moral religious or spiritual system; saintly: a holy person.
      4. Specified or set apart for a religious purpose: a holy place.
      5. Solemnly undertaken; sacrosanct: a holy pledge.
      6. Regarded as deserving special respect or reverence: The pursuit of peace is our holiest quest.

      • You know, you’re more than welcome to answer the question I actually asked. Unless, of course, you need to look up the definition of Bible, and cite where Fantino referred to it. God. lol

Just like I said, some people need other hobbies.

        • You know it was Fantino who that said, “… the member opposite is referring to a failed NDP candidate who wrote
this report, critical of everything that is holy and decent about this
government’s efforts…” He could have easily left out the part about his government being “holy.” Did he reference the Bible? No, but then the common accepted usage of holy is within the parameters of the definition I provided you. I don’t know about you, but I would never use the word “holy” except to describe it within the context of the divine — that just happens to be it’s generally accepted usage.

          •  “Did he reference the Bible? No…”

            Thank you!

“I don’t know about you, but I would never use the word “holy” except to
describe it within the context of the divine — that just happens to be
            it’s generally accepted usage”

Yes, it’s not as though people, including Fantino, ever use the term in a more casual sense.

Holy cow! Holy Baloney! Holy get another hobby. Holy moly get a life!

          • You are using “holy” in a completely different context than Fantino.  Fail.

          • We both didn’t mean it literally. Pass. Next.

          • worst attempt at spin ever.

          • I just love it when anonymous quacks come on here with one line garbage posts. It says that you are so threatened by what I have to say that you can’t resist. You have to counter me somehow, but it’s not with argumentation. Thank you.

          • We aren’t paid by the word, like some.

          • Exactly. You appear to be paid by the post. Thank you for sharing.

    • I thought you guys were on vacation today?  I will requote 3/5ths of Wherry’s original post for you:

“Mr. Speaker, that premise is absolutely false. The member opposite is referring to a failed NDP candidate who wrote this report, critical of everything that is holy and decent about this government’s efforts to provide our military men and women with the resources that…”

      HTH

      • I guess your brain was on vacation in that post of yours. lol. You might want to translate it into English. Just saying.

        • HTH = Hope this Helps

      • Maybe he was using “holy and decent” in relation to the highest power he knows: PMSH.
