Poland’s foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski speaks with Paul Wells about events in Ukraine

Outside Ukraine, nobody in Europe is more preoccupied with events in Ukraine’s eastern regions than Radoslaw Sikorski, Poland’s foreign minister. A former foreign correspondent who is married to the Washington Post columnist Anne Applebaum, Sikorski is one of the most popular politicians in Poland and a frequent lecturer in other Western capitals. He spoke to Maclean’s on Thursday about Poland’s hopes for better relations with Russia—and about opportunities for Canada in the ongoing crisis.

  1. Russia doesn’t need more land, it needs Sevastopol….the port.

      • Yes, they are. North is not south, for example. Russia needs a southern port for 9 months of the year.

        • …and now they have the Crimea(portsd) -which are year ’round, and a little closer to the Med sea.
          -jus sayin’

          • They’ve always had Sevastopol….they simply can’t afford to lose it. There is no other port like it.

  2. Sure, but isn’t that the same thing we have told the “Native Indians” of North America, for the last 300 years or so ?
