The government-owned Institute de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ), or Quebec Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, is set in Montreal, witha strong network of industry connections in Quebec, throughout Canada, and internationally. It has two teaching restaurants, the Restaurant de l’Institut and Restaurant-école Paul-Émile-Lévesque, as well as a teaching hotel called Hôtel De L’institut, all of which are open to the public. Students who aspire to work abroad have the opportunity to enter 20 prestigious internship locations around the world.
Students can opt for programs in food services, hospitality, tourism, and sommelier training, and take courses from one of these fields in either secondary-level, college-level, university-level, or continuing education programs. ITHQ is the only institute in Quebec to offer programming from each of these tiers under one roof.
The Centre d’expertise et de recherche en tourisme, hôtellerie et restauration (CER) is ITHQ’s research hub, featuring a food chemistry laboratory. ITHQ also has an experimental kitchen and sensory analysis laboratory, dedicated to exploring everything from food science to consumer satisfaction.
