Health authorities: Swine flu not as dangerous as first feared

Death toll would still top 20,000 in the U.K.

Health authorities in the U.K. have slashed their predicted death toll from the Swine flu, saying the virus doesn’t appear to be as dangerous as first feared. The new figures predict a mortality rate of 0.1 percent, down from 0.35 per cent. Good news—sort of. Given how widespread the flu becomes during the winter months, that would still mean as many as 20,000 deaths.
