The 11 universities in Canada with the most women

Men are outnumbered 2 to 1 at many campuses, but form a slim majority at a few

The Maclean’s Canadian Universities Guidebook keeps track of the male-to-female ratio on each campus. Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax been admitting men since 1974, but is still mostly female. The Royal Military College in Kingston, Ont. is the only one that’s strongly male. Of those aged 25 to 34 with university degrees, 59 per cent are women, so they’re (unsurprisingly) a majority on most campuses.

Here are 11 schools that are more than two-thirds female (with the percentage female):

1. Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax 75%

2. NSCAD University, Halifax 74%

3. Université du Québec en Outaouais, Gatineau, Que. 71%

4. Alberta College of Art + Design, Calgary 70%

4. Université du Québec à Rimouski, Rimouski, Que. 70%

4. Université Sainte-Anne, Church Point, N.S. 70%

7. Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver 69%

7. OCAD University, Toronto 69%

9. Brandon University, Brandon, Man. 68%

9. Nipissing University, North Bay, Ont. 68%

9. St. Thomas University, Fredericton, N.B. 68%

And here are 6 with more men than women (with the percentage male):

1. Royal Military College of Canada, Kingston, Ont. 82%

2. University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Oshawa, Ont. 59%

3. University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ont. 57%

4. Algoma University, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. 52%

4. Carleton University, Ottawa 52%

4. Saint Mary’s University, Halifax 52%

  1. I dunno. I applied to rent a place rooming with Mount students, and a girl brought her shyer sister with her to meet me. I don’t think they actually wanted to rent out the room. My friend, she insisted I wear something clubbish and not a hockey jersey…
It is a lot better just to get the Waterloo degree and call the yellowpages.
I can’t find a B.Wall Seante thread. Am reading a book with a chapter about the USA media and politics. Their media played a role that the Seante is supposed to. In the 1976 prez debate, G.Ford said there was no Soviet domination of E.Europe. 12 hrs after the debate surveys said Ford won the debate. But then the media zeroed in on that slip up…it isn’t the kind of thing you want joe public ignoring; you’d prefer not to have democracy or direct democracy than to have a public thinking Russia wasn’t occupying E.Europe. Years later the media sided with early-onset (tired and confused) Reagan and the media focused on his abilities and age. Probably the media was wrong here. In both instances it swayed the public a couple days later. In Canada, in SK, the richest people don’t read much anymore. They aren’t friends with scientists. So, you need a check on that power if you want the future not to be an AGW hellscape and if you want the kids to have industries in demand.
I’ve been wanting a sane g/f like in the photo for about 17 yrs and it never happened. I’m sad in my lonelier moments but sad women are dumb. Not the one on the left. I got better at dating but not as quickly as I got moral. I really wanted a g/f in Halifax.
It might be important to get better ground imaging for replicator chemical or robotic WMDs. Screamers or grey goo. It is useful to find archeology remains; especially writings on clay tablets and inscriptions. One of Obama’s research nexus centres could be better archeology technologies that would double for future WMDs sensors. Not a Mount or a NSCAD school though. You don’t learn engineering hooking up.

    • What are you talking about? You’re all over the freakin’ map. What does any of this rant have to do with the list of Universities?

  2. WOOT! Algomau U! I’ve never seen it on a list before… :)
