Ablonczy lives?

From David Akin’s twitter feed.

davidakinDespite what Brad Trost says, Ablonczy still tourism minister, says spokesman for Indu Min Tony Clement.

Susan Delacourt confirms.

Ablonczy lives?

  1. Wouldn't surprise me.

Tories use Lifesite to get messages to the base that they don't want others (MSM) to hear. They also treat their base as gormless morons. Trost might have said all this stuff thinking nobody would pay any attention to LS.

    • I am a little confused as to the difference between a gormless moron and a moron with gorm?

    • Tories use Lifesite to get messages to the base

That's quite a generalization, considering that only a handful of MPs know about the site and Lifesite's traffic is probably tiny. I think it's more accurate to say that Trost uses the site to get his message to his "base".

    • Tories use Lifesite to get messages to the base

That's quite a generalization, considering that only a handful of MPs know about that pro-life website, and the site's traffic is probably tiny. I think it's more accurate to say that Trost uses the site to get his message to his "base".

      • …but then BCL can't smear all conservatives. You're not being fair crit.

        • No, as I mentioned earlier there have been a number of cases (gun registry politics, abortion politics) where Tory MPs have spoken to Lifesite but not MSM journalists. Usually their remarks never appear in MSM publications. Probably they wouldn't want them to. Don't tell me my business, little frog.

          • Don't tell me my business, little frog.

            I wouldn't dream of it, M J.

  2. Shouldn't Trost get reprimanded for this given that the PMO is very weary of getting this kind of coverage. Trost even discloses that the PMO was upset about the funding, but that doesn't make sense – because I thought the PMO approved all press releases.

  3. The question remains: what on earth possessed Trost to make such a comment? He knew something like that would get press attention, so why chew up a news cycle on showing non-core voters what fundamentalists the Tory base is? I know he's got little to worry about in his own riding, but still.

  4. There's got to be a Sheila Copps column in here somewhere.

    • That is *such* a male thing to say.

      • Actually, I was just twittering inside the Hamilton Coliseum.

        • LOL!

  5. Ablonzczy may still be tourism minister, but is she still in charge of handing out Marquis funding?

  6. From the LifeSiteNews.com story…"$400,000 in funding from the federal Conservatives for the recent Toronto Gay Pride parade"…

Just to be 100% clear, the cash did come from the federal government right, not the CPC?

    • The money was also for Pride WEEK not just the Pride Parade. My understanding is that the money was spent making venues accessible for disabled visitors and hiring entertainment for the week's festivities. I'm not sure any of the money was actually spent on the parade itself at all.

  7. Correct – it's not party money.

  8. I sill do not understand what this tempest in a teacup is all about??

Mr. Ignatieff, the new leader of Liberal Party of Canada, wanted to cast himself in the eyes Canadian public as a populist politician and in order to dothat he wanted to march in Gay Pride Parade in downtown Toronto. Ms. Ablonczy decided to accommodate his wish and she made sure that Toronto Gay Pride Parade went as planned.

Mr. Ignatieff is a grown up man who has ambitions to become next Prime Minister of Canada and Canadian government has an obligation to nurture and prepare him for that job.

If Mr. Michael Ignatieff decides to publicly hang himself while he is waiting to become next PM of Canada, Canadian government of the day is dully obliged to supply Mr. Ignatieff with as much rope as it takes to get that job done properly.
