Bob and Ray Cover The Election

Not really, and I’ve posted this comedy routine (audio only, no video) elsewhere, but I always return to this routine on any election night. Bob and Ray are in many ways the fathers of modern comedy: their parodies of the media in all forms, their dissection of how news shows, soap operas and talk shows work, is the ancestor of The Daily Show and much else, and it’s common to hear young comedy writers cite them as an influence. In this routine, they start with the ultimate sore-loser concession speech, but the meat of the thing is “David Chetley,” an amalgam of every TV pundit who thinks that his big words and gravitas will disguise the fact that he’s just telling us things we already know.
