Yesterday was the fifth anniversary of George W. Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” speech. April was the deadliest month for U.S. soldiers in Iraq since September. And the federal Liberals are coming up to the fifth anniversary of their decision not to make Stephen Harper wear his support for Canadian participation in the Iraq war. In fact, to be on the generous side, they’re going to wait at least until Bush’s successor is elected — and, who are we kidding, almost certainly until that successor is inaugurated — before forcing an election, just in case Harper was worried he might face any comparisons to Bush on the campaign trail.

Mind you it could be worse. If the Conservatives introduced a motion next week to send Canadian troops to Kirkuk, at the rate we’re going the Liberals would vote for it.
