Finally, we might get an ambassador

I see that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee has just scheduled a confirmation hearing for David Jacobson, Obama’s nominee for ambassador to Canada, for Wednesday morning. Given that the Senate adjourns for the summer at the end of the week, this is the last chance to get the ambassador in place before the trilateral North American leaders’ summit in Guadalajara later this month.

Let’s just hope Jacobson hasn’t made any past speeches about “wise Latinas.”

  1. The Senate site needs it's webmaster to check it's posted hyperlinks.

  2. Does anyone know anything about the bagman coming our way? I am one of those who prefers it when America ignores us so I am curious to know if Jacobson has a relationship with Obama or are they strangers.

  3. Maybe Jacobson used to be in charge of birth certificates in Hawaii?

  4. Thery fixed the hyperlink to his speech to the committe = I like this bit = Canada is a stalwart partner of the United States in defense and international issues. Canada is a founding member of NATO and our partner in the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). There are more than 2,800 Canadian troops serving bravely in Afghanistan. Their service – and their sacrifice – should be honored and respected by all Americans.
