I Am Whimsically Enraged

They’re giving a “hip,” “cool,” “modern” makeover to the little guys from Tetley Tea. Delicious Tetley Tea! What’s next, the Keebler Vampires?

At least the announcement reminds me that the Tetley guys had different voices and narrators in England than they did here in Canada. The commercials I’m used to are ones like this, where they tried to sound charming and cute, but wound up sounding constipated.

I just hope that no one gives a new look to the British twits from the Red Rose commercial. Some tea mascots should never be tampered with.

  1. Interesting little class war there. LOL

'Keebler vampires' is a great line though.

    • Let's start an indy rock band, with a name like that we'd get gigs in no time!

      • Now you mention it, it's perfect….Keebler might object though. LOL

  2. …and rightly so. I would never buy tea on the say so of a BRITISH cartoon.

  3. I know how you feel Weinman — don't have the time to go look up clips just now, but some time in the late 80's or early 90's Kellogg's (slightly, but noticeably) changed the look of Snap, Crackle and Pop. At the time I was very disappointed with their new incarnations!

  4. I always figure the guys (and it had to be guys) who wrote the Tetly Tea Dance commercial must have always been killing themselves laughing because the themes is the same as Iron Man by Black Sabbath.

But Jaime, Canadians took advice on which coffee to drink from a Briton in the 80s:
