This year’s Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons “for its extensive efforts to eliminate chemical weapons.” Here’s a look at how the numbers break down for previous Peace Prize winners:

  1. Well they just managed to kill all the excitement for it.

    They need a new Nobel committee.

  2. Henry Kissinger and Barak Obama certainly did not deserve the prizes they were awarded. Just imagine if Stalin had actually won. And the five nominations (but no award) for Gandhi will forever blemish this legacy.

    It’s time to stop awarding famous faces for what they have said on their soapbox and time to focus on those for what they have actually achieved, even if they were once labelled as traitors and terrorist .The Nobel committee does this, but it often gets it wrong.

    Maybe someday Edward Snowden will be nominated for this award based on his courage, convictions, for what he has accomplished. In the meantime I pray for his safety.

    George Bernard Shaw said “All great truths begin as blasphemies”. The Nobel Peace prize committees should learn from this.

  3. Interesting facts. I’m glad they have prizes that capture the world’s attention, but unfortunately those making the selections lack wisdom. Sweden is not perfect after all.
