More on rape, torture, and murder in Iranian prisons

This time the victim was a young woman named Saeedeh Pour Aghayee. It appears she was gang-raped after being arrested for chanting “God is great!” from her rooftop during protests against the stolen June 12 presidential election. Her captors burned her body from knees to chest to cover up their crime. See, once again, Potkin.

It is noteworthy that opposition candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi attended her funeral. The breakdown of divisions between Iranian reformers, who believed that human rights and democracy could be furthered within Iran’s political system, and those who want to change the system itself, is a theme I’ll touch on in a forthcoming article.

  1. "The breakdown of divisions between Iranian reformers, who believed that human rights and democracy could be furthered within Iran's political system, and those who want to change the system itself"

Look forward to article. It is theme that can be written about many revolutions – the initial dissidents generally don't want large changes, just some tweaks to the system, but those in power resist and dissidents become more revolutionary.

  2. Michael, thank you for keeping an eye on this.
