Sydney Leroux and dealing with racist sports fans

  1. The last refuge of a scoundrel, claiming ‘racism’. As one headline yesterday read: “Lashed Leroux: ‘Benedict Arnold’ of soccer players makes up claims of Toronto racist
taunts long after game in which her country-switching was issue for fans”

  2. I have absolutely no doubt that Leroux has received some nasty tweets & such. While important, I don’t think it is necessary to justify her actions following the goal.

23,000 people enjoyed a fine afternoon, watched some quality soccer and lustily booed Leroux every time she was near the ball. I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Leroux played 90 minutes listening to those boos and not reacting. She heard them, she dug in and scored in extra time. The twenty three year old woman then gave the fans some of their own back. I don’t see anything wrong with that.

One announcer and a handful of twits can’t seem to let it go. I would say they have a problem, not Leroux.

“Our” issue is with a crappy Norwegian referee not Leroux, although frankly we should let that go now as well.

  3. Terrible article. Maybe you guys should start putting the onus on her for baseless false claims. I see none of that here. She smeared us all.
