As an expert political strategist (very savvy), I am never surprised when my sage advice takes deep root in conventional wisdom, leaching into the public consciousness like so much super-intelligent toxin.

Last week, I made that case that Stephane Dion could overcome his awkward, over-earnest manner and triumph in the next election by growing a moustache.

Last night, Stephen Colbert made the case that John McCain could overcome his awkward, over-earnest manner and triumph in the next election by… growing a moustache! (You can see it here starting at the 3:40 mark after the Avenue Q ad.)

Ladies and gentlemen: lock up your daughters and tie up your damsels, preferably to some train tracks — this is shaping up to be the most hirsute election season since Carlos Santana faced off against Slash for best guitarist of 1987.
