Maclean’s augmented reality experience

Maclean’s augmented reality experience

  1. Turn on your webcam.

  2. Make sure your computer’s speakers are on.

  3. Click the “Allow” button in the dialog box on the left to activate your webcam. If you’re sitting in front of your webcam, you should see yourself on your computer screen. (You will need the latest version of Adobe’s Flash Player for the augmented reality experience. Click here to download and install it.)

  4. There are two augmented reality experiences available using your Nov. 14 issue of Maclean’s:

If you’d like to see content related to the cover story about Sidney Crosby’s recovery from a concussion, turn to page 63 and hold the image of Crosby up to your webcam.

If you’d like to see content related to the use of innovative safety lights to prevent collisions with moose, turn to page 39 and hold the image of the moose up to your webcam.

*Alternatively, you can download and print PDF versions of the images here (for the Crosby story) and here (for the moose story).

  5. If you selected the Crosby story, you’ll see a 3-D image of a scoreboard. Tilt and turn your magazine or print-out to manipulate the images that appear onscreen. You can replay scenes by clicking on the navigation links above the player.

If you selected the moose story, you’ll see a 3-D image of a moose. Tilt and turn your magazine or print-out to watch the re-enactment from different angles.

*In either feature, tap your spacebar to lock in the angle at which you’re watching the animation.
