While other business schools use case studies as components of their programs, Ivey employs more than 300 cases each year as the bedrock of all learning.

Ivey’s 12-month, full-time MBA program allows students to immerse themselves in their education and minimize the delay in kicking off their prospective careers. And there’s an accelerated program, which takes only eight and a half months to complete.

Understanding the importance of individualized education, Ivey offers an array of elective courses. Students have five areas in which they can tailor their focus: finance, entrepreneurship, marketing, corporate strategy and leadership, and international management.

Near the end of the program, students will employ their theoretical knowledge for a capstone project connected to real-world business issues
of the day.

Beyond the classroom, the team-based Ivey field project takes entrepreneurial students through the process of developing and refining an idea for a new venture, writing a detailed and compelling business plan, and finally creating and presenting a pitch to an external review panel or potential investors. The project gives students the opportunity to kick-start their careers.

Ivey offers international study trips where students travel to China or South America to learn from local businesses and connect with professionals working in unfamiliar environments. Students may also participate in an international exchange in their final semester, choosing between 14 destinations including South Africa, New Zealand and the Netherlands.

Notable alumni include Heather Shaw, executive chair of Corus Entertainment, and Prem Watsa, chairman and chief executive officer of Fairfax Financial Holdings.
