The length of a Laurentian MBA depends on the student taking it. Those with an undergraduate business degree can finish in as little as 11 months, while those without take a 20-month degree. Coursework places a focus on consulting projects, with students completing a final project at the conclusion of their program.
Students without a prior business education begin their program by studying foundational topics like accounting, economics and marketing. All students take core MBA courses on subjects like ethical leadership, global management and corporate finance along with a handful of electives. Among the available electives are a course on corporate social responsibility and one on First Nations and the mining industry. Those without prior experience also complete a three-to-four-month work placement.
Students are welcome to attend classes on weekday evenings at the school’s Sudbury campus, but can also complete them online at their convenience. The online model places an emphasis on teamwork, reflecting the realities of the modern working world, where colleagues increasingly collaborate online.
Approximately $63 million has been put into the campus to create 250,000 square feet of new student space. The project includes 60 new classrooms, teaching labs, student gathering spaces and a new student services centre, perfect for studying and social events.
The program currently has 70 faculty members, including 32 full-time tenured members.
A management alumni portal helps students expand their professional network. The alumni mentor program creates an opportunity for successful students to share insights with current students. The program’s digital portal makes it easy to connect.
