Most MBA programs require applicants to have years of work experience; students at the Rowe School of Business have often enrolled straight from their undergrad degrees.

The school’s corporate residency program starts with a few months of foundational courses before dropping participants into corporate placements. Students work with employers in Toronto, Calgary and across Atlantic Canada, ranging from RBC to Ontario Power Generation to Canadian Tire. After eight months, they return to school for a final set of courses.

In addition to the corporate residency program, Rowe also offers two specialty programs aimed at mid-career professionals. For the financial services option, students take 10 core MBA courses plus four specialty classes on topics such as risk management, money management and global markets.

The second specialty degree, in leadership, requires the 10 core courses plus additional courses in topics like sustainable leadership and responsibility.

Most of the coursework for both these options is completed online. At the end of each semester, the school holds intensive three-to-five-day sessions in cities across the country. The program concludes with a five-day final session on Dalhousie’s campus over the summer.
