Royal Roads University’s MBA program is structured to appeal to professionals looking to enhance their skills and expand their potential. Students will build on existing talents with theoretical and practical in-class learning, and will be able to immediately apply new knowledge to their current companies. The program allows working professionals to learn from a combination of on-campus and online learning, letting students effectively balance their full-time business careers while maintaining their academic careers.

The 18-month MBA schedule involves two three-week residencies, 10 online courses and an organizational management consulting project at the end of the program. Students can expect up to 28 hours of work per week. But there is also a 31-month program that requires approximately 12 to 14 hours per week.

The program puts an emphasis on team-based learning, which teaches collaboration
and promotes networking.

Thanks to the diverse array of business professionals involved, students are exposed to unfamiliar cultures and business practices, deepening their understanding of today’s global business environment. To further that experience, Royal Roads also offers international specializations, taken in students’ final sessions. The courses educate participants in the complexities of overseas ventures and cultural awareness. They are offered under two streams: Asia Pacific trade and investment, and Europe business and innovation. Students choosing the Asia Pacific specialization will experience an eight-day residency in a country in that region. The European specialization offers students the chance to work alongside business professionals during a two-week residency in France.

Notable alumni include John Vidalin, chief operating officer of the Baltimore Orioles; and James Hanson, vice-president of operations and support services at Island Health.
