You’re standing at a crossroads in life, ready to embark on a new career. Choosing to do a full-time MBA program is as much about improving as a person as it is learning market strategy. And while the Smith School of Business is one of the oldest business schools in Canada, it offers a contemporary emphasis on coaching and student wellness.

Classes are held at Goodes Hall, a 120-year-old Victorian schoolhouse that was recently retrofitted with all the necessary comforts of the digital age. Students come from around the world to do their MBA here; about half the current cohort is made up of international students. At the outset, students are grouped into small teams that will remain together for the duration of the program. Mentored by a professional coach, every day is a lesson in teamwork, group dynamics and navigating differences of opinion. In addition to your team coach, students have a career coach, executive coach, and—if you want it—a lifestyle coach, who will all help you set your goals and achieve them.

For the first six months, students take foundational courses. In the second half of the program, participants can continue in the general management stream or specialize in consulting, digital transformation, entrepreneurship and innovation, finance, management analytics or marketing and sales.

Throughout the year, there are opportunities for international exchanges through Smith’s partnerships with more than 100 business schools in 38 countries. Students who are particularly interested in volunteer work and responsible leadership can even earn a Social Impact certificate to further enhance their resumé.

The school also offers an accelerated MBA that takes 12 months to complete, but can be done while employed full-time. The accelerated program is offered in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, Ottawa and Montreal.
