Today, May 1st, is the busiest day of the year for student union executive transitions.
First of all, congratulations to all those who were legitimately elected in free and fair elections. (To the others, don’t expect me to treat you with any legitimacy.)
If you are mentioned on this blog, it will be due to a great achievement or great failure. Let’s hope it’s for the former, not the latter. I prefer writing good things, it’s easy and does become a headache. The reality is that I’m better as a watchdog and am not afraid to call things as I see them.
If you get mentioned for your mistakes, don’t make it worse. Seriously, calling me and complaining that it’s not fair that I noted your error will not help. We all make mistakes, nine times out of ten, it’s the cover-up that’s worse than the initial mistake.
Lastly, feel free to drop me a line anytime. I’m always interested to hear what students’ unions are doing. I’m also more than happy to share knowledge. I absorb a lot of information, more of which never gets onto this blog. I have no problem telling you what other students’ unions are doing or have done in similar circumstances.
To the outgoing executives; congratulations on ending your terms. For those of you leaving for the "real world," best of luck, I hear it’s a scary place.
