Buying into health education

DeVry beefs up health programming in U.S.

DeVry Inc., the Illinois-based company with close to 60,000 students in the U.S. and Canada, seems to be staking out territory in the area of health education. With its purchase of U.S. Education Corporation, DeVry is adding a number of allied health programs to its existing programs in medicine, nursing and veterinary studies.

Down the road, if shortages of health care professionals continue and tuition fees in health education programs continue to be deregulated and increased, it is conceivable that we could see similar activity in the private sector of Canada’s post-secondary education system.
