About a week ago, I linked to a story regarding an American university president who repaid a $300,000 “bonus” after his state’s Attorney General started looking into whether the payment violated state laws. (Arkansas regulates the pay of public employees)
According to local news reports, the AG announced Tuesday that the bonus had violated state laws. Further, he ruled that money the university receives from contracted-out ancillary operations is a form of “public funds” and not “private money” which the university can use as they please.
It be nice if governments here made sure public funding flowed to the right places (aka students) instead of massive payouts for administrators.
