Letters celebrating Guergis written by a staffer

Helena Guergis appeared to have at least one die-hard fan in her Ontario riding who was willing to defend the Simcoe-Grey MP with punchy letters to the editor in local newspapers. Over the past few months, Jessica Morgan had written letters defending Guergis and the Conservatives against attacks over policy, federal spending, and even the minister’s now-infamous outburst in a P.E.I. airport. Turns Jessica Morgan also goes by the name Jessica Craven—and just so happens to be Guergis’s executive assistant. The incident involving Guergis’s assistant recalls a similar case involving Rahim Jaffer, the former MP whose staffer impersonated him during a 2001 radio interview. Guergis is no doubt intimately familiar with the Jaffer case—the two are married.
