Alleged Times Square bomb plotter to appear in court

Faisal Shahzad was stopped while trying to board a flight to Dubai

Faisal Shahzad, the man accused of parking a bomb-laden SUV in Times Square, is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. The Pakistani-born U.S. citizen was stopped by authorities on Monday while trying to board a flight to Dubai out of New York. The charges against Shahzad in connection with the failed bomb plot have not yet been made public. Police say the explosives in the SUV could have produced a “a significant fireball” and sprayed shrapnel with enough force to klll pedestrians and blow out windows. “It’s clear,” said U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, “that the intent behind this terrorist act was to kill Americans.”
