BodyBreak stars Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod made their comedy debut on the season premiere of CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes Tuesday night.

The husband-and-wife duo first made a name for themselves in the ’90s when they appeared in a series of BodyBreak commercials to promote exercise, diet and a healthy lifestyle. It’s only fitting, then, that the pair appeared on 22 Minutes in a parody of Heritage Minutes, another ’90 television staple.

Besides their Heritage Minutes segment, Johnson and McLeod also read jokes as guest hosts on the 22 Minutes anchor desk. With his moustache and deep voice, Johnson proved to be a natural in the fake news anchor business.

Earlier this year, Johnson and McLeod appeared as two of the contestants on CTV’s The Amazing Race Canada. Despite being fan favourties, they were eliminated in Saskatchewan after getting bogged down in some dirty lentils and being U-turned near Regina. (More on that here.)

This Hour Has 22 Minutes airs Tuesdays on CBC at 8:30 p.m.
