Britain launches inquiry into the Iraq war

Tony Blair to be star witness

It was confirmed today that former Prime Minister Tony Blair will appear before Britain’s inquiry into the Iraq war. The inquiry will focus on the period between 2001 to 2009 and promised to level criticism where necessary. “If we find that mistakes were made, that there were issues which could have been dealt with better, we will say so frankly,” said inquiry chairman Sir John Chilcot. The objective of the inquiry is to inform future government on how to respond to similar problems. The London Times reports that Prime Minister Gordon Brown is another potential witness.
