Girl shot in the head by Taliban releases video, says she will continue promoting education

‘I’m getting better day by day’

Malala Yousafzai, the 15-year-old Pakistani girl who was shot in the head by Taliban members for promoting girls’ education, has released her first video statement since the Oct. 9 shooting.

“I’m getting better day by day,” says Yousafzi in the video, which was released through a public relations firm.

The video was shot on Jan. 22, but was released Monday after Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham said Yousafzi had undergone a successful surgery “to reconstruct her skull and restore her hearing,” reports The Associated Press.

In the video, Yousafzi says prayers from people all over the world are helping her to heal. She also says she wants to continue advocating for girls’ education.

“God has given me this life. It’s a second life. I want to serve. I want to serve the people,” she says.
