Harvard announces visiting professorship in gay studies

Endowed, named chair is U.S. college first

Harvard will announce a visiting professorship in gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender studies on Thursday, according to the New York Times. The university plans to invite “eminent scholars studying issues related to sexuality or sexual minorities” to teach on campus for one semester. Harvard says the position, which is being created with a $1.5 million donation, from the Harvard Gay and Lesbian Caucus, will be a first for U.S. colleges.
