If you ever dissed Detroit—and let’s face it, who hasn’t lately—you must read this lament by sportswriter Mitch Albom for the disdain of his beloved city to stop. He recognizes there’s good reason for ridicule given the Detroit Lions horrendous 0-16 record this season and the domestic auto industry’s demise. But Albom, whose written for the Detroit Free Press for 24 years, provides an eloquent and moving case for why we should all love this city and its teams, for better or worse.
