Anti-virus software creator John McAfee appears to still be on the run after an unconfirmed report on his own website over the weekend saying he had been arrested.

His own blog, which appeared after ex-pat McAfee’s Belize neighbour was found shot to death, posted on Saturday: “We have received an unconfirmed report that John McAfee has been captured at the border of Belize and Mexico.”

Police have been looking for McAfee, who they say is wanted for questioning, since his neighbour, Gregory Faull, was found on Nov. 11 with a bullet wound in his head.

Early Monday, another post appeared, saying that McAfee had not been arrested: “I apologize for the silence, and misdirection. I am currently safe and in the company of two intrepid journalist from Vice Magazine, ” he writes.

The post says McAfee has left Belize and will return when he finds a safe place for Sam, the woman he has been travelling with since his disappearance.

The post that McAfee had been arrested came after the fugitive appeared in an interview with CNN.

During that interview, McAfee said he was tiring of life on the run, but that he did not want to surrender. “I will certainly not turn myself in, and I will certainly not quit fighting. I will not stop my blog,” he said.

McAfee sold his stake in anti-virus company McAfee Associates in 1994. He has been living in Belize since 2008.
