PARIS, May 28, 2008 (AFP) – A French postman claiming to belong to a shadowy group that wages war on traffic radars was critically injured by a home-made bomb in his flat near Paris on Wednesday, officials said. The device exploded in the man’s apartment in Clichy-la-Garenne west of the capital just after midnight, tearing off his hands. link

The European Parliament is to create its own social networking website at a cost of £3.2 million to taxpayers. Creating and running the new service will cost more than £4,000 for each Euro-MP over the next 18 months, even though many already belong to free and popular networking sites such as Facebook or Bebo. link

A Christian group based in San Diego found grounds for outrage over the new retro-style logo for Starbucks Coffee. The Resistance says the new image “has a naked woman on it with her legs spread like a prostitute,” Mark Dice, founder of the group, said in a news release. “Need I say more? It’s extremely poor taste, and the company might as well call themselves Slutbucks.” link
