Madoff scandal dates back four decades

Watchdog doesn’t find any evidence that Bernie Madoff made trades for clients

You can’t fool all the people all of the time? Ask Bernie Madoff. According to the New York Post, a probe of the alleged $50 billion swindler indicates that his alleged “Ponzi” scheme ran for more than 40 years. Not only that, it appears that his investment advisory business never traded a share in all that time, despite providing clients with statements that showed thousands of transactions every month. How did he get away with it? Perhaps the fact that he used to be vice chairman of the body now investigating him had something to do with it.
