McAfee uncovers largest-ever hacking operation

Cyber attacks on governments, UN, IOC going on since 2006

IT firm McAfee claims to have uncovered one of the biggest cyber attacks ever, listing 72 organizations that have been targeted by hackers over the past five years. Among them are the International Olympic Committee, the UN, defence firms and national governments. McAfee’s head European technology officer Raj Samani told BBC News that the hacking is still going on. Although McAfee would not say who is behind the attacks, there is speculation that China may be responsible. Others have emphasized that there is no definitive prove that the attacks originated in China. Samani also said that intellectual property has been stolen from governments, corporations and non-governmental organizations, although it is unclear what is being done with it.
