NBA star LeBron James signs contract with Miami Heat

Cav's owner calls it a betrayal in a scathing open letter

In a firestorm of controversy, LeBron James has left the Cleveland Cavaliers and will play for the Miami Heat. In a live ESPN broadcast last night LeBron announced “I’m going to take my talents to South Beach.” LeBron, the NBA’s two-time MVP, left the Cavaliers and a $30-million contract for a five-year contract with the Heat. The move has created an uproar in LeBron’s hometown. Dan Gilbert, the majority owner of the cavaliers, wrote an open letter shortly after LeBron’s statement saying that that the fans “don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal” and called LeBron’s move “heartless and callous.” The Miami Heat scored one of the NBA’s biggest off-season coups after securing top players LeBron, Toronto Raptor’s Chris Bosh and current Miami star Dwyane Wade.
