Say it ain’t so

Andre Agassi’s mullet wasn’t real after all

Forget the crystal meth use. The real revelation in Andrea Agassi’s new autobiography is that he wore a wig—an appalling bad wig. Who can forget the tennis star’s free-flowing mullet from his early 1990s heyday? Now it seems it was all a sham. Agassi was already far along the baldness highway by the time his career peaked. And the night before the 1990 French Open final, the hairpiece came apart in the shower. Jury-rigged back to his scalp with clips, Agassi had more than tennis to worry about the next day. “During the warming-up training before play I prayed. Not for victory, but that my hairpiece would not fall off,” he writes.
