Single mother of three victim in Toronto body parts case

Remains of Guang Hua Liu were found in Missassauga and Toronto

The identity of the woman whose body parts were found in Toronto and Mississauga was released to the public Tuesday afternoon.

Police released that the victim is 41-year-old Guang Hua Liu, a single mother of three in Scarborough. She was last seen on August 11 with friends, when she was dropped off in front of the spa she ran in Scarborough. Lieu has one adult child and two younger children. The younger children are with their father. Lieu is a Canadian citizen of Chinese descent.

The case started when a group of hikers found a severed food in a Mississauga park. Police later also found a severed head and two hands during a search in the park. In Toronto, they found an arm and two calves.Police had previously said there was an obvious connection between the body parts found in Toronto and the ones found in Mississauga. Toronto police will be wrapping up their search in the next few hours.

Police said that neither she nor her business were previously known to law enforcement. They haven’t yet discovered the cause of death, but are treating it as a homicide.
