The “lucky” lobbyists

The most important ear in town may not be the Prime Minister’s

The Hill Times has a rundown of the 27 lobbyists who have managed to arrange a little prime ministerial face time since the communication log went live last summer. Not that it means all that much. According to a “well-connected consultant lobbyist” who wishes to remain anonymous, snagging a meeting with the PM may be more about marketing the lobbyist than anything else. “They can impress the hell out of your client, make a client think you’re connected, but the lion’s share of the real grunt work of moving a file and the decisions that would have to be made are much further down the food chain than the Prime Minister.”
