When left meets right

The diabolically brilliant plan of Scandinavian footwear thieves

Swedish police were stumped, as were the ripped off owners of shoe shops. Who would want to steal just one designer shoe? “We have noticed that left shoes have disappeared in the past, but we never caught the thieves,” said Anna Johansson, a shop assistant in Entré. The mystery was solved when police realized that shoe shops in neighbouring Denmark put right shoes out on display. Thieves simply pilfered a left from Sweden and a right from Denmark and, voila, they had an expensive pair of designer shoes. Now the next big question: Which of the two countries is going to change its shoe display habit?
