Will Major League Baseball overturn an umpire’s botched call?

Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga may get his perfect game after all

All is forgiven—at least as far as Armando Galarraga is concerned. A day after losing his perfect game because of an umpire’s botched call, the Detroit Tigers’ pitcher delivered the line-up card for this afternoon’s game against the Cleveland Indians, shaking hands with umpire Jim Joyce at home plate. The mustachioed Joyce, who admitted that he made the wrong call last night (“kicked the s— out of it,” as he said), was teary-eyed at the gesture. In the meantime, Major League Baseball is still considering whether to overturn Joyce’s monumental screw-up and give Galarraga what everyone knows he earned: a perfect game.
