Hip hop icon Wyclef Jean will announce Thursday on CNN’s Larry King Live that he intends to run for president of Haiti. The Haitian-born artist, who moved to Brooklyn when he was nine, told CNN last month he has filled out the necessary paperwork to make a run at the country’s highest office. Jean has been an outspoken proponent of Haiti through his Yéle Foundation, and was one of the first celebrities to offer aid to the country after the devastating January 12 earthquake killed more than 220,000 people and destroyed 60 per cent of government infrastructure.
