Video: Remembering D-Day, 70 years later

“We just thought it was like another exercise. All of a sudden we’re going to France. It’s the day. It’s the D-Day.”

On the 70th anniversary of D-Day, two Second World War veterans recall their experiences on June 6, 1944.
“We just thought it was like another exercise. All of a sudden we’re going to France. It’s the day. It’s the D-Day,” said 89-year-old Cyril Roach, 89, an Engineer Officer in the British Royal Navy.
“There were people killed beside you, wounded, but it didn’t seem to bother you much. It wasn’t till 50 years later that these things all hit you,” said Ross Baker, 93, Lance-Bombardier with the Royal Canadian Artillery.
