STRATFORD, Ont. – Pop star Justin Bieber is charged with dangerous driving and assault after police say a collision between a minivan and an ATV led to a physical altercation in southwestern Ontario.

Ontario Provincial Police say the incident happened Friday afternoon in a rural area northeast of Bieber’s hometown of Stratford.

They say the driver of the ATV and an occupant of the minivan “engaged in a physical altercation.”

A spokesman for Perth County OPP says Bieber, 20, went to the police office and was arrested, then released on a promise to appear in court Sept. 29.

Constable Kees Wijnands says there were no injuries as a result of the collision, but can’t say whether there were any injuries from the altercation.

Bieber is expected to be in court in Toronto on Sept. 8 in relation to an assault charge from last year.

Police allege Bieber hit a limousine driver several times in the back of the head after he and five others were picked up by a limo in the early hours of Dec. 30.
