Topping off a remarkable year of telling the big stories important to Canadians across a litany of digital platforms, Maclean’s was honoured this week to win five gold and five silver awards from the prestigious National Magazine Awards and their first-ever online editions, the Digital Publishing Awards.

With 18 nominations at Friday night’s NMAs and another field-leading 11 nods for the Thursday night DPAs—including in the evening’s top honour, for best digital publication—Maclean’s victories reflect the breadth of our lean but agile newsroom’s varied skill set, from in-depth profiles and podcasts to cover design and columns. “I am gratified by the National Magazine Awards Foundation’s awards,” said Mark Stevenson, Maclean’s editor-in-chief. “Maclean’s did great work last year, and it’s wonderful to see it get recognized.”

So here’s to last year. Now, on to what comes next.
