Mall victim's fiance to testify today at inquiry after day of emotion

ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – The fiance of a woman who died in the collapse of the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake, Ont., will testify today at the inquiry into the tragedy.

Gary Gendron’s testimony comes after relatives of the two victims slammed the rescue effort.

Teresa Perizollo said she was shocked the rescue was called off hours after signs of life were detected in the rubble.

The bodies of Doloris Perizzolo and Lucie Aylwin were recovered four days after last summer’s collapse.

Aylwin’s mother testified the deaths were murders, because the mall was allowed to deteriorate to the point of collapse.

After Gendron testifies, Ontario’s community safety commissioner will provide an overview of emergency response in the province.
