HALIFAX — There is an increased police presence at a Halifax-area high school today after a bag of guns was found nearby amid fears of a foiled shooting attempt.
RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Clarke would not reveal how many officers were at Millwood High School, saying only that they were asked by the school to be there.
She says two teens are due in court today to face charges linked to the seizure of the guns and ammunition Tuesday, but did not know if they were students at the school.
Police received a tip from a member of the public that there were people with firearms in the area of the school and Millwood Elementary school in Middle Sackville.
Clarke says the high school was locked down and police later found a duffle bag with two long guns and two BB-type guns inside along with some ammunition.
Clarke says two suspects under the age of 18 were later arrested — one at the scene and one in an area nearby.
