Toronto police issue warrants for two members of Brazilian soccer team

Toronto police have issued warrants for the arrest of two members of the Brazilian soccer team who competed at this summer’s Pan Am Games.

Police say Andrey Da Silva Ventura and Lucas Domingues Piazon are wanted in connection with a sexual assault that took place towards as the Games were winding to a close.

They allege the players encountered the 21-year-old victim at a downtown club on July 25 and then returned to her home.

Police allege both men sexually assaulted the victim after she fell asleep, and then fled the scene.

Police say both Ventura and Piazon are currently out of the country.

They say the men would have to be extradited to Canada if they are to face charges.

Police have another warrant out for a member of the Brazilian water polo team in another sexual assault case in July as the Games were ongoing.
